Piercing Minors
Parent/Guardian Consent Required
In West Virginia, anyone under 18 years old must have parent or guardian consent on-site at the time of a piercing, along with a birth certificate or legal documentation verifying guardianship and age. No exceptions.
This is state law, and Opalescent Studio strictly enforces these requirements to ensure the safety of every client. All identification and paperwork must be presented at the appointment. If the required documentation is not provided, we cannot perform the piercing. These policies are in place to protect both our clients and our staff.
Piercing Minors & Age Requirements
At Opalescent Studio, the youngest age we will pierce earlobes is 5 years old. We believe this age is appropriate for ear development and allows the child to better understand simple aftercare instructions such as “do not touch” and keeping the piercing clean. For children ages 5–8, we require a consultation prior to scheduling an appointment to ensure readiness and comfort.
Additional age limits apply for specific piercings, which are outlined on our piercing price list.
